Your mission
  • Develop polymer formulations and polymerisation strategies for aevoloop’s novel polyester based Planet-Proof Plastics.

  • Define the desired properties of the target polymer and develop a R&D plan to achieve them. Design and optimize synthesis routes and scale-up to the 10+ kilogram range, while assessing hazards and costs.

  • Lead and interpret analytical workstreams (DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, MFI, viscosity, TAN, mechanical testing, weathering/hydrolytic stability) to define the ideal polymer formulation and achieve the desired mechanical and processing properties.

  • Work closely together with process engineers to translate R&D findings into robust, scalable processes.

  • Develop compounds based on our polymer technology in close collaboration with external partners to fine-tune the material properties and enable manifold applications.

  • Develop sustainable plastic products for a wide range of applications, including extrusion, injection moulding and film blowing, to prepare semi-finished product prototypes for 3D printing filaments, fibers or packaging.

  • Identify and validate new applications in line with our go-to-market strategy, especially within the fields of packaging, 3D printing, textiles and composites.

  • Develop depolymerisation procedures to lay the groundwork for selective recycling back to the monomers.

  • Prepare technical reports and patent applications, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications where appropriate.

  • Ensure that SHEQ and sustainability standards are upheld across all laboratory, pilot and production activities, including knowledge of REACH/CLP, LCA, recycling and end-of-life strategies.

Your profile
  • Advanced expertise in polymer chemistry, particularly polyester and polyamide, and at least two years' industrial experience. Ideally, you have a PhD in polymer chemistry, chemistry, or a related field. Experience with biodegradable polymers is advantageous.

  • You have hands-on experience in polycondensation (batch and continuous) and polymer processing (compounding, extrusion, injection moulding, film blowing, 3D printing and fibre spinning).

  • You have deep familiarity with analytical and characterisation methods: DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, mechanical testing (tensile testing, impact strength, HDT), TAN and weathering/hydrolytic stability assessments.

  • Proven skills in agile project management, CRO/supplier coordination and patent screening and filing.

  • You are well-versed in regulatory topics (REACH/CLP), life cycle assessment (LCA), recycling and end-of-life strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); German language skills are advantageous.

  • You bring a hands-on mindset, structure your work efficiently, and collaborate seamlessly across disciplines – even under the dynamics of a fast-paced start-up environment.

About us

We are aevoloop: A fast-scaling deep-tech startup pioneering Planet-Proof Plastics. Contrary to common belief, plastics remain indispensable where no alternative exists, from critical medical devices to protective gear. That’s why we re-engineer polymers from the ground up, merging the advantages of classic plastics — high-performance and versatile — with a new era of sustainability: turning plastic waste into new materials that are fully circular and biodegradable.

Our mission is clear: Plastics are vital for a liveable future, so we develop next-generation materials that enable a truly circular economy. As we achieve new milestones and drive innovation, we continuously expand our team and expertise — giving you the chance to grow your career alongside our impact.

Our work is guided by five values: Pioneering, Conscientious, Disruptive, Transparent and Contributive. These drive us to unite the rigour of responsible research with playful innovation and to act as a trusted catalyst for sustainable material solutions.
