Process Engineer or similar (m/w/d) for pilot scale-up & commissioning of our recycling technology
Other Engineering · Full-time
Aachen, Germany
Your role
You will work full-time on a crucial work stream for our technology: taking the pilot plant from design into operation, working closely with our lead process engineer.
-
Specify and procure equipment and components, managing vendors through to delivery
-
Build and commission the plant, then operate it and run the scale-up campaigns
-
Carry out sampling and clean data acquisition across the experimental campaigns
-
Contribute to the engineering – P&IDs and PFDs, mass and energy balances
-
Translate experimental data into models and equipment specifications
-
Take part in HAZOPs and safety reviews
-
Think while you execute – recognise when a setup won’t deliver reliable data and solve it yourself
-
Close collaboration within an interdisciplinary, international team
What we are looking for
Must-haves:
-
A degree in process or chemical engineering or similar (university or UAS); hands-on training very welcome
-
A strong hands-on mentality and working knowledge of typical unit operations (distillation, extraction, evaporation)
-
Ability to read and contribute to P&IDs and PFDs, a solid grounding in process safety, plus basic automation and data-acquisition know-how
-
Experience with pilot/experimental plants and clean documentation; independent, structured, communicative; fluent German and English; available at short notice
Nice-to-haves:
-
Solids handling (filtration, suspensions, bulk solids); reaction engineering or high-pressure process experience
-
Familiarity with plant safety frameworks such as ATEX and PED
-
Scripting for data analysis (Python/MATLAB), automation/SCADA experience, or a recycling/separation background
Even if you don't match all of the requirements above, we are curious to hear why you believe you are a great fit for this role.
What we can offer
-
Joining a small, interdisciplinary team and working side by side with the lead process engineer
-
Real impact - take a process from the lab into reality and bring our pilot plant into operation
-
Hands-on - work hands-on in the pilot plant, building, commissioning and operating it yourself
-
Fast track to ownership: a high degree of ownership from day one, with direct responsibility for impactful topics
-
Full-time role: a full-time position at our site on the RWTH Aachen campus, initially on a fixed-term contract, with the prospect of a long-term employment relationship
